Puppy was “thrown away” along with a sofa, he still stayed in the same place for almost 7 days alone, waiting for his owner

A dog is a love for life. They may not last forever, but their love and presence endures forever. My soulmate has four paws and fur.

“In my deepest dreams no animal will live in the solitude of abandonment on the streets, or even in the abandonment of a home without love, chained, hungry and cold.”

A dog was abandoned in Brookhaven, Mississippi (southern USA). He was thrown out on the side of the road, along with a sofa, but, believing that his owner would come back for him, the furry friend refused to leave the place. He spent at least a week alone.

The animal didn't realize he was being thrown away like a useless piece of trash. He was left alone in a place known for illegal dumping, with a sofa and a broken TV.

Perhaps the “scenery” reminded the dog of the living room of the house where he lived with a human family.

Abandonment and rescue

The discarded piece of furniture was a reclining chair, which is very popular in the US. Many American families keep one or more of these sofas to relax and watch TV. The objects really did look like the setting for a happy living room.

The scene was heartbreaking: the dog was trying to hold on to the life he once had, in a makeshift living room next to the trees that line the road. He was lying on the couch, guarding the family's belongings and didn't seem willing to leave the place.

The small dog was hungry and dirty, but resisted following the officer.

His best friend would be around, for sure. Soon, he would come back for him and everything would go back to the way it was before, the way it always was. While he waited, the dog took care of the objects, guarding them as if they were treasures.

Taking great care not to scare him, Norton approached the dog, showing him she was only there to help. The control officer told The Dodo, a website specializing in pet stories, that she offered him some food — the first meal the animal had received in several days.

The shelter

He knew he was safe, even though he couldn't understand what had happened. The dog was very thin, with ribs sticking out of his back, but he was in good general health.

The dog was taken to BARL – Brookhaven Animal Rescue League – an organization that has been working to defend dogs and cats for 40 years (it was founded in 1981).

The dog has been recovered and is available for adoption. Meanwhile, the control officer who found him is running a campaign to try to locate the irresponsible owner who threw him away like an old piece of junk.

Poor thing, that's the only reference he has. Such cowardice. The human being really didn't work out. How could he do this to such an innocent little being, have mercy...
